Been too long
It has been much too long since we posted on our blog. It would be the fall out of a busy month of May and a more than usual travel schedule. One such travel was my trip to the Christian Alliance for Orphan Summit in Louisville, KY. What an encouraging, challenging event.
As I prepared for the Summit, I was asking the Lord to speak into my heart, to show me His plan for my/our family's service to the Kingdom. As I listened to the speakers, read statistics regarding orphans, human trafficking, foster care, etc., one thought kept running through my head. "Do not be afraid". I must confess that this makes me nervous. :-) If the Lord is telling me to not be afraid, is it because what He has for us is fear inducing? Or...is it because He is reminding me that where He leads, He will provide? I do believe that it is both.
Walking in obedience is rarely comfortable. It can be filled with uncertainty, challenges and extensions beyond our ability. For me, a very comfortable American, that can be fearful. However, truth, God's truth, is more powerful than my fears. One Summit speaker said, "If it is comfortable, it is faith?". When my cruise is set on 'comfortable', how often am I walking by faith? If comfortable, do I miss seeing God move? Many want only enough of faith or God to be comfortable. I propose that in comfort, we miss out. We miss out on seeing God. Seeing His faithfulness, His justice, His strength, His provision, His Mighty Hand. (and since God is endless...this list would be endless as well). So, our confidence rest not on our comfort but on the One who says,"Follow Me and Do Not Be Afraid".
Do I think following can be scary? ABSOLUTELY! But I grab hold of the Mighty Hand of my Father and follow His lead.
